My paintings, due to the use of beeswax, have a transparent and immaterial appearance. This also makes the painting more of a wall object. The warm beeswax mixed with pigments flows into and over each other, forming an image that I often don't know where it will go, at least not at the beginning. It is the material itself that asks me what I should do.

Often, images that I cannot immediately comprehend intrigue me far more than those that convey a clear, well-defined message or complete story. The image is meant to raise questions for the viewer, tell a story, or simply be present with something you want to allow—an emotion, thoughts, or memories. This is how I also work on my paintings; I build up the layers like a certain labor, where images of memories become part of the painting process.

The fact that you can see multiple layers is important; it makes the image not just play out on the surface, but also within it. Thanks to the transparency of the wax, you can almost penetrate into the painting. There is a certain depth, but you don’t know where it ends or what lies within. Everything hides in a background that, when the layers are scraped away, reveals an image. Does a landscape, a field, or a person appear? I work through the layers and let myself be continually amazed.
